Back in the Saddle Again / Gene Autry / 1937
Most of us never had a horse.
We didn’t live on farms or ranches.
Being a Cowboy was just a dream.
But at the corner … there was an accessible Steed.
And for a Penny, a Nickel, a Dime … or Quarter ….
For a few seconds we could be the Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers, Dale,
or the Cisco Kid …
Let’s Ride !
What it’s all about …
Awww, what fun post! I remember these, of course. I like to watch ‘American Pickers’ on the History Channel and if you can find these lovely antiques, they are in high demand. 🙂
I’ve seen a couple around. Still galloping. But they are getting rare.
I like American Restoration too. He fixes stuff up like this.
My mother wouldn’t spend the time. I had a good imagination and fence rails. I named the sections of fence. Not as bad as it sounds 🙂
Kids will find a way. Can’t stop their imagination.
I see a couple of rides there for “1 cent.” They don’t even mint pennies in Canada anymore.
