Michael Wincott:
“No one hires a gunman who runs from trouble.”
Kiefer Sutherland:
“You don’t have to run Dave. You can walk.”
MFW: The story is standard Western fare
– but well rendered by an excellent cast of seasoned players.
The prodigal son (Kiefer Sutherland) returns to his Montana (? ) homestead after fighting in the American Civil War and ringing up a career as a infamous gunslinger. In the meantime his mother has died and his estranged father (Donald Sutherland), who is also the town Preacher, is none too happy to see him.
Kiefer wants to put his guns away and go back to the land
– but we know that ain’t gonna happen.
His former beau (Demi Moore), has long since married someone else,
but still carries a flame.
Elsewise the mean railroad baron (Brian Cox) is trying to push all the homesteaders off their land – so the railroad can go through.
And has hired a bunch of mercenaries ….
… including an old gunslinger buddy of Kiefer’s (Michael Wincott) to get the job done.
The sights, sets, and production are impressive.

– same place they shot Klondike mini-series)
Not a Classic Western, but worth a shot.
