The Dunblane Massacre

The Dunblane massacre took place at Dunblane Primary School in Dunblane, near Stirling, Scotland, on 13 March 1996,
when 43-year-old Thomas Hamilton killed 16 pupils and one teacher
and injured 15 others before killing himself.
It remains the deadliest mass shooting in British history.

Mark Knopfler on guitar and Ted Christopher on vocals.
Created in memory of the Dunblane Massacre.
Includes a new verse written for the children who were killed,
sung with a children’s choir made up of siblings of the victims.
Reached #1 in the UK and raised funds for children’s charities.

Following the killings, public debate centered on gun control laws, including public petitions for a ban on private ownership of handguns and an official inquiry, which produced the 1996 Cullen Report.

The incident led to a public campaign, known as the Snowdrop Petition, which helped bring about legislation, specifically two new Firearms Acts, which prohibited the private ownership of most handguns in Great Britain.
The UK Government instituted a buyback program which provided compensation to licensed owners.

Bob Dylan paintings …

… or Why Aliens don’t attack us.

Back a bit I showed a Dylan Painting.
I like it.
Now I’m showing a few more because he has expressed admiration for Vincent Van Gogh on a few occasions in his music.
(I won’t post that here)
Anyway … have a look.

Bob

I think we can see there’s some Van Gogh influences in his style.

Sometimes Bob paints several variations of the same scene.

Unlike Van Gogh though, Bob paints BIG.

I like this one. I’d buy it … if I could afford it.
And I might be able to.

By Art standard Bob’s work is cheap right now – “ranging from $67 USD to $17,816 USD, depending on the size and medium of the artwork. Since 2014 the record price for this artist at auction is $17,816 USD for Train Tracks, sold at 1818 Auctioneers in 2021.”

Trust me. Any of his works would be a very good investment.

Meanwhile …

Actor Pierce Brosnan sold his painting of Dylan …

… for 1.4 Million Dollars.

Trust me.

Bob’s Birthday …

Bob Dylan / 80 years old / born May 24, 1941

My first impression of Bob Dylan back in 1962:
“This guy can’t sing.”
Bob wasn’t listening.
