  Interesting isn’t it? A guy who initially wanted to be recognized as a serious actor – who was never nominated for an Oscar – made only a handful of movies – but has left an enduring legacy and philanthropy that far exceeds what most Stars will ever achieve.

    I lived not far from Boston at one time – in Saint John, New Brunswick – late 60’s – but foolishly never availed myself of the opportunity to visit there. Another lost opportunity …

Marilyn Armstrong

I read Nimoy’s autobiography and a lot of other stuff he wrote … and a recent documentary he made about Boston, his home town (well, Brookline, really, but let’s not quibble). He’s what we call “a local kid.” And one of my people. I remember the first time I saw him do that hand sign and recognized it as the Cohen gesture for a blessing. It was good of him to incorporate that symbol into his character. I always appreciated it. He will be missed.

  Yes, missed indeed. A man of substance and character. He has several fine Quotes.
  I believe he wanted to be respected as an all around actor and that’s why he initially balked at being locked into Spock. Yet he eventually realized that this unique role allowed him offer much more than he may have otherwise been able. People revered this character. Then he embraced it. And left us much.
