Hey Joe / Jimi Hendrix Experience / 1967
The second album I bought in 1967 might surprise you.
It did me.
Jimi Hendrix / Are You Experienced is is about as far away from the Bee Gees as you can get.
I bought this album after overhearing some kids raving about it at school.
Did I like it?
Not a bit.
At that time I had no appreciation (or Experience) with this kind of music at all!
If I couldn’t sing it – hum it – or whistle it …
… it didn’t work for me.
These days however? I DO recognize it – I do understand it – and I do appreciate it.
And it isn’t just his brilliant guitar work – his song writing was also excellent.
There are no throw away songs on this album.
They are all good. Some have become Hendrix Classics.
And this might well be the best album he ever made.
