    The show ran on TV from 1949 to 1957, so a total of 8 years plus a number of movie (made for TV) sequels.

      Thanks for the question … had to ride over the library tho (Wiki) to get the answer:

      Wikipedia says: “Jay Silverheels as Tonto in the TV series for 217 episodes; 1949–1957.

      Silverheels achieved his greatest fame as Tonto on The Lone Ranger … Being irreplaceable in his role, Silverheels appeared in film sequels: The Lone Ranger (1956) and The Lone Ranger and the Lost City of Gold (1958).”
