Such a great actor! He ran the gamit in his movies roles, the priest in WATERFRONT, the pervert in BABY DOLL Fitch in NEVADA SMITH, Herbie in GYPSY. He wasn’t just another pretty face in films, this man could act. And his credits from Broadway!
He always made the films in which he appears that much better. Too bad he allowed himself to be cast as Herb Brooks in MIRACLE ON ICE.-
Herb? Hey you gotta work! That might have been a mistake, but I never saw it. It WAS an extraordinary event though. You know what? I watched that whole tournament and I predicted the US would beat the Russians. They had tremendous skating team – they were swift and good.
Otherwise Malden was brilliant. Could do anything – Film, TV, Stage …
I don’t know if he was having trouble getting work at the end of his career? Sometimes that happens – even to the Greats. And they take stuff that they would have otherwise refused.No Fear – his legacy is intact.

I think he probably was having a hard time at the end of his career. I agree though, his legacy is intact, and will always be one of my favorites.
