I think we have an identical piece of furniture. Same color too. But dog rather than cats.
We had a wonderful calico cat who loved that cat tree. Used to sleep in there all the time. I think it’s a bit a safe house / refuge where they can’t readily be annoyed by the other cats? Good scratching post on there too.
