Woman Walks Ahead is a 2017 American biographical drama film directed by Susanna White. The film is the story of Caroline Weldon (played by Jessica Chastain), a portrait painter from New York who travels to Dakota to paint a portrait of Sitting Bull (Michael Greyeyes). It also stars Chaske Spencer and Sam Rockwell.
The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 10, 2017. It is scheduled to be released through DirecTV Cinema on May 31, 2018, before being released in a limited release on June 29, 2018, by A24

Caroline Weldon
Caroline Weldon (December 4, 1844 – March 15, 1921) was a 19th-century artist and activist with the National Indian Defense Association. Weldon became a confidante and the personal secretary to the Lakota Sioux Indian leader Sitting Bull during the time when Plains Indians had adopted the Ghost Dance movement.
Michael Greyeyes
Michael Greyeyes (born June 4, 1967) is a Canadian actor, choreographer, director and educator. He is Plains Cree from the Muskeg Lake First Nation in Saskatchewan. His father was from the Muskeg Lake First Nation and his mother was from the Sweetgrass First Nation, both located in Saskatchewan.
Sitting Bull
Sitting Bull, born about 1831 in present-day South Dakota and died on December 15, 1890 in the Standing Rock Indian Reserve, was a tribal leader and doctor of Lakota Hunkpapas ( Sioux ). He was one of the main Resistance Amerindians facing the American army, notable for his role in the Indian wars and very particularly the battle of Little Bighorn of the June 25 , 1876 where General George Armstrong Custer was killed.

I have a portrait of Sitting Bull in my bedroom. He has been with me for more than 30 years.
I saw this and was disappointed. The Sitting Bull that was cast was hot and 40 while the real Sitting Bull was 60ish. Chastain’s accent was terrible. I loved the skies and the costumes. It brushed over the time frame and didn’t do the Wounded Knee catastrophe justice, in my opinion. I would rate it a 3/5.

This one looks great. Can’t wait to see it. The trailer really doesn’t seem to bring across a movie worthy of the low IMDB rating. Hoping it is as good as the trailer looks.
There’s some obvious liberties taken.Sitting Bull was not a matinee idol. LoL! I’ll watch it for sure, but purely as Western entertainment.
