I read your page about the late great Sam Peckinpah and The Wild Bunch with all of those posters and quotes from Peckinpah and I must say you are spot-on regarding Peckinpah’s intentions and much more. It was never his intent to make violence look cool, but to depict as it really was, which you say so eloquently in your blog entry about it. And yeah, Peckinpah’s history with directing episodes of TV westerns played one of the many major roles in that. I too also read that he was appalled when people were thrilled by what he showed them because he wanted them to be shocked. Peckinpah was truly one of (If not) the greatest action filmmakers who ever lived. Anyway, keep up the great work as always 🙂
P.S. in case you are interested, here is a blog entry regarding my favorite films of Sam Peckinpah below:
Sam mede at least 2 Classics – ‘The Wild Bunch’ and ‘Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid’. He influenced many filmmakers – 2 of my Favorites. I might have to check on those pages and fix them up a bit.
Yes, I’ll come over and have a look. Thank you.
