You find he most wonderful images. Color photography on glass plates first appeared during the Civil War. Most of it didn’t survive. Glass plates were — obviously — fragile. But that was definitely a glass plate. They have a certain look that’s different from every other process.
I knew nothing about this Plate imagery – so that’s great information. Thank you.
When I see some of the unique qualities of these old artwork I wish someone would keep these techniques alive.
Very nice collection of poster art. I have been reading about Wm. S. Hart and his impact on the development of the Western in Richard Slotkin’s Gunfighter Nation.
