Very nice collection of poster art. I have been reading about Wm. S. Hart and his impact on the development of the Western in Richard Slotkin’s Gunfighter Nation.

Howdy DL. Thanks for coming around. I find Hart fascinating. “Richard Slothin’s Gunfighter Nation” ?
I’m going to check that out.

  2. You find he most wonderful images. Color photography on glass plates first appeared during the Civil War. Most of it didn’t survive. Glass plates were — obviously — fragile. But that was definitely a glass plate. They have a certain look that’s different from every other process.

I knew nothing about this Plate imagery – so that’s great information. Thank you.
When I see some of the unique qualities of these old artwork I wish someone would keep these techniques alive.
