The Wild Bunch … Posters

MFW: I will not vouch for the authenticity for all of these posters.

The Wild Bunch poster 1
“The land had changed. They hadn’t. The earth had cooled. They couldn’t.”

Not sure who wrote some of these tag lines … but they’re interesting.

“Nine men who came too late and stayed too long.”

  1. Ha! I was just talking to someone yesterday about watching William Holden films. I have never seen one of his or The Wild Bunch. Here’s a second reminder to rent this and write a post about the film. Love the posters!

    1. Holden was a powerful actor – had Star Power. Did a fine job in that role.
I always like looking at the casting in movies and who else could have had that part: Wiki: “Peckinpah considered many actors for the Pike Bishop role … Richard Boone, Sterling Hayden, Charlton Heston, Burt Lancaster, Lee Marvin, Robert Mitchum, Gregory Peck, and James Stewart. Marvin actually accepted the role but pulled out after he was offered a larger pay deal to star in Paint Your Wagon (1969)”
WOW ! that’s a pile of great movie Stars – any of which would have done a great job – and there’s damn few actors these days that could stand in that group.

    1. There is a Director’s Cut (surprise, surprise) out now that includes scenes that were sliced from the original. Strangely enough, it’s said that the edited scenes were not violent, but more in the way of story and character development. Nobody seemed able to leave Pekinpah’s stuff the way it was supposed to be.
